Plaster Bandages: The 25 sq ft of plaster bandages is sufficient to cast the breasts and the biggest of bellies with an adequate number of layers of plaster guaze. If you wish to include shoulders, upper arms, and/or the upper 1/3 of thighs in the casting, you may consider adding another roll of plaster guaze to your order.
(Optional) The plaster casting stone can be used to smoothen out (and/or reinforce) the cast. It is a stronger version of the plaster that is embedded in the bandages. By adding the casting stone to the cast, you will no longer see the layered look created by the bandages. However, if you like the bandage look and still want the cast to be reinforced, you can add the plaster casting stone to the inside of the cast instead.
(Optional) Gesso white acrylic primer (matte) is also available with the purchase of this kit. It prepares the cast for painting by providing "tooth" for the paint (acrylics, oils, Tempera and others). It will also create an even smoother surface, further strengthen as well as seal the cast.
This kit now comes with Belly Rub lubricant. Belly Rub is made of all-natural ingredients: Beeswax, cocoa butter, olive oil and vitamin E. Belly Rub is easily washed from mom’s skin once her belly cast has been removed or she can allow it absorb into her skin. It is so much easier to remove than messy Vaseline but it provides the same excellent barrier protection!
About Belly Casting: Making a pregnancy belly cast with a loved one in the privacy of mom's home is an easy project that is completed in just 45 minutes. Photos and video just can't capture an expecting mom's shape the way our pregnancy belly cast can. A pregnancy belly cast enables a mom to forever remember how she looked during her pregnancy and the special nine months she shared with her growing baby.
Is a pregnancy belly cast hard to make? Making a pregnancy belly cast is a fun and easy craft. No mixing of materials is required and the end result is a perfect 3D memento of an expecting mom's belly or torso. A pregnancy belly cast is created by applying several layers of wet plaster strips to the front of mom's body. After the strips have set, they will hold her shape and the cast will come away from her body and she will capture how beautiful she looked during her pregnancy. And after a pregnancy belly cast is made, it can be left as is, or painted or decorated in any way. A mom's imagination is the limit!
Decorating Your Cast: How you decorate your finished ProudBody Pregnancy Belly Cast depends on your taste. You can leave it in its original form and hang it up as a wall decoration in your bedroom or in your baby's nursery (you can easily poke a couple of holes in the top and thread a pretty ribbon through the holes) or you can apply Gesso (acrylic priming paint) and then finish or embellish it as you desire.
Some ideas for decorating include applying sequins, feathers, dried flowers, photographs or small, pretty, cut stones or glass. You also can wait to decorate it until after your baby is born and apply paint to your baby's hands and feet and put the prints on your belly cast. When your baby is old enough, you could even decorate it together. You could even have it bronzed. Your imagination is truly the limit.
*All plaster bandages are certainly not created equal and we are pleased to supply the very best quality plaster bandages on the market. We have tried other brands that promise the same quality, but we feel there is no comparison and do not want to sell less than the best quality materials. The bandages supplied in our kits contain a generous amount of plaster thereby making it easier to work with and providing a very strong cast.
*The casting material contained in the bandages is made from 100% natural materials and is non-toxic and safe to use on mom's skin. Further, there is no noticeable heat reaction when applied to mom's skin, unlike standard plaster of paris.
